Home Groups the Parish of Cowley

It might be said that the early Christian Church began as a home group, when after Jesus was crucified, they met and continued to meet for some time in the “upper room” in a house in Jerusalem.   It was in the upper room that the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit.  It was from this small home group that the followers of Jesus went out encouraged to share in the good news, and against all odds the church became a world-wide movement.

There are a number of Home Groups in the parish, mostly meeting fortnightly (Except in Lent when they meet every week).  They meet as shown below:

It's a great way to get to know your bible better! Details of the next meeting can be found on the welcome page of the web site.

Home groups are essential to the health of our church.  They allow church members to grow in faith and in fellowship.  Home groups connect the members of the church to one another and through these relationships church members find encouragement, and prayer support, and learn what it means to be a part of the family of God.  Home groups play a key role in the life of the parish.

We encourage our members to take on leadership roles in our home groups.  The home groups follow a regular format:  each meeting begins with a time of welcome, followed by a simple act of worship.  In order to grow in faith we study some aspect of God’s word, and the meeting closes with a time of sharing prayer and discussion of how we might be Witnesses to God’s amazing love.

We’d like to encourage you to get involved in a Home Group today.  For more information please email the coordinators listed above or:  [email protected]
